I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified EMDR trauma therapist, specializing in PTSD and issues related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking survivors. My professional background includes 18 years in the medical field including working with organ donor families, which provides me with unique skills and insight into trauma.
As a mental health therapist, my career has focused on trauma and victim services, serving as a sexual assault & domestic violence counselor in a community agency as well as the counseling program manager. I transitioned to a role as a co-located partner and trafficking task force member in a family justice center, which gave me the opportunity to collaborate with law enforcement and first responders, in victim response, as well as clients with co-occurring mental health diagnoses and complex traumatic stress. Now, as a private practice clinician I am able to provide enhanced services as well as education and advocacy for violence victims and the multiple systems they are often entrenched in.
I earned my Masters Degree in Community Psychology from Alverno College and post-masters certificate in Trauma Informed Care from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and post-masters certificate in Forensic Criminology from Umass-Lowell. I am a Certified Complex Trauma Professional-II, Clinical Certified Trauma Specialist-Sex Trafficking & Exploitation, and Certified Human Trafficking Victim Services Provider. I am also a member of EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), National Association of Forensic Counselors, American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, and a volunteer with the EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP). I have been trained in providing Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD).
I am a Certified Dancing Mindfulness Class Facilitator and trained in Yoga for Clinicians to bring expressive arts and somatic experiences into my trauma healing practice. I am a Consultant in Training for beginning EMDR practitioners, volunteer as a mentor for the local high school professional mentorship program, and provide guidance on core values and diversity and inclusion practices for the high school's FIRST Robotics Competition team.
